Locator LANtags™ are small 802.11 active RFID tags that are attached to equipment or carried by people for real-time tracking. The LANtag is a key component of the PanGo Locator™ enterprise asset tracking system. PanGo Locator consists of two key components: the LANtag, which allows users to track assets that are not wireless-enabled, and the Locator Software, which manages system configuration, asset monitoring and reporting. Together, they allow users to track assets in real-time throughout an 802.11-enabled building or campus environment.
Among the most significant benefits and cost-saving features of the PanGo Locator system, including the LANtag active RFID tags, is that it operates over any 802.11 wireless network. Unlike alternative single-use proprietary tracking systems that require a separate network of readers and wireless infrastructure, Locator requires no additional network hardware overlay. Existing standard WLAN access points are the active RFID readers.
Locator LANtag Key Features and Benefits
- Compact Size. The small size and light weight of LANtags allows them to be affixed to a variety of asset types, including medical devices, manufacturing equipment, containers, vehicles and carts. They can also be carried by people.
- Long Battery Life. LANtags use powerful replaceable batteries that can provide years of battery life. An advanced power management design ensures that LANtags maximize battery life under a variety of transmission and usage scenarios.
- Wi-Fi Radio. The LANtag is an 802.11b/g active RFID tag, and is fully compliant with IEEE 802.11 b/g standards.
- Tag Configuration and Management. The intuitive LANtag-to-asset interface allows authorized users to associate LANtag active RFID tags with important asset information such as manufacturer, departmental owner, serial number, and other asset specific data. LANtag reporting frequency and characteristics are user-definable, and all tag information can be programmed remotely (via a wireless connection) or directly via a serial interface.
- Integrated Motion Detection. LANtag active RFID tags include a built-in motion detector. This enables the tag to send motion alerts, and allows for different transmission rates depending on the asset state: stationary, in-motion, or transition from in-motion to stationary.
- Multiple Mounting Options. LANtags can be affixed to assets using a variety of mounting options, including adhesive tape, Velcro, or hanger.
