Session Title: Applying RFID Technology Within the Emergency Department
This session will provide an overview of the key motivators and steps taken to initiate an RFID implementation at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, a major teaching hospital located in Boston, MA. The pilot will concentrate on the use of 802.11b-based RFID technology that will ultimately track patients, staff and high-value medical equipment.

Discussion will include:

• Considerations for evaluating wireless infrastructure and system vendor partners
• Site survey and access point placement
• Channel interference containment and power settings management
• Network configuration issues when providing roaming support between subnets
• Attenuation or signal interference issues
